Why do we have a Fair Use Policy?
This Fair Use Policy is designed to make sure that all WiFi4all customers receive a fast and reliable service, whatever the time of day. A very small number of our customers use the WiFi4all service inappropriately, for example by sending or downloading large files, or using ‘peer to peer’ and file sharing software (which may involve sending and receiving video and other large files). This means that service quality for all users is affected, making it slower for everyone to access the internet or send and receive emails, especially at peak times. Peak times for the Wifi4all network are between 10.00am and 10.00pm, Monday to Sunday.
By adhering to the Fair Use Policy, you’ll help us to keep the WiFi4all service running smoothly for everyone.
How does the Fair Use Policy work?
If you regularly use the service inappropriately, or your usage exceeds 10,000 minutes in any given month, or your usage is consistently measured as significantly above (more than double) the average use as measured by WiFi4all for your class of customer then your session may be disconnected and you’ll need to re-login every 30 minutes thereafter until the start of the next month or billing period. Alternatively, at WiFi4all’s discretion your maximum speed may be limited to the average speed for your class of customer or your daily upload / download totals may be limited to the average levels of your class of customer.
How do I know if the Fair Use Policy affects me?
Our Fair Use Policy applies to all of our customers.
If you don’t use peer to peer, file sharing or other inappropriate software and you’re not frequently downloading or uploading videos or other very large files, you’re unlikely to be affected by our Fair Use Policy.
What else do I need to bear in mind?
All WiFi4all users must comply with relevant copyright and intellectual property laws.
Please note that some activities, such as using peer to peer or file sharing software, may contravene these laws. Under our terms and conditions, any illegal activity on the WiFi4all network will be a breach of your contract and will result in us ending your service.
In addition, per our terms and conditions of trade and Acceptable Use Policy you will not resell, rebroadcast, share or otherwise distribute with third parties any wifi access obtained through a contract with Wifi4all. Such rebroadcast or sharing result in the cancellation of your contract with Wifi4all and expose you to an action for punitive damages.
